Headlight washer leaking..advice needed

So I have the leaking water from the headlight washers. I popped open the access hatch and can see where the water is leaking from. It is not coming from a loose hose, it looks like it is coming from a position close to the base of the washer unit. From the photos, it looks like its coming out of the first little ridge if you look at it from the bottom up. I have attached some photos below to show the problem, has anyone had the water leaking from here and if so how have they fixed it? Looks like its a bumper off job for any kind of fix! Thanks

mine was leaking in the same place (where that ridge is). i ended up taking the bumper off and putting some silicone sealant around it as a temporary fix. was fine over winter until recently when it's started leaking again. new one needed.

Silicone fix would be my idea as well. You never know it might do the trick in the long run. You can still replace if needed afterwards. It seemed to help Ben for a while too and I think I read on other threads that the sealing with silicone tends to help in some cases.

At least it will help keeping your lights dry!

Ok so I am just seeling the whole way around the leak on that ridge of plastic..that part of the washer doesn't move or anything that would be hampered when its in use?

Follow this for advice on removing front bumper:

I replaced my headlamp washer with a new one from the stealers around £60. Total time to remove bumper, refit new washer and replace bumper around 20mins. Real easy job!!

Just to say I have just replaced my O/S headlight washer unit without removing the bumper, via the lower wheel arch inspection panel (with wheel off). There's not much space but just enough. I won't lie, I swore quite a few times :D

I've had mine leaking for a while! I've had my Indy block it off for now and seen pumps on eBay for about £30!

IMO, bumper off is not that big a deal, just a number of screws. Rather do that than work through the inspection hole. If you need to save cash, it should be possible to effect a decent seal, thorough surface prep is essential to a successful seal. I would probably try cutting a small groove at the joint with a dremel tool, mainly to expose virgin plastic and create a more convoluted path water would need to negotiate to leak out. Fill it with a small fillet of epoxy. Then apply a bead of silicone over it for good measure.

One of mine jammed open a couple of weeks. New one was £52 delivered from Soper's.
