Headlight washer jet - service position?

Someone hit my car whilst it was parked and the washer cap popped off; luckily I found it and even more luckily, it's undamaged and the diamond clip is still in place. Looks like the jet needs to be in the extended position to reattach it - is there a way to do this that doesn't involved either emptying your washer bottle or pulling the reservoir out?

Get someone to keep flicking the washer/wiper on and when it pops out... grab old of it !!!
They're totally pointless!
