Headlight Washer Issue

Hi All
Well I took the car out the other day ( E86) to drop off some shopping for my mother. I do remember using the washers at some time without any issues. When I got home I discovered that both the headlight washer covers had gone. Not only that on both of them one of the locating tabs had broken.
I can’t find anywhere that supplies the nozzles without the pump, and I don’t fancy paying the price of two new complete units.
I will order a couple of new covers, however I am seriously thinking of just fixing these in place somehow and then removing fuse 40 and not use them. From what I understand the headlight washers are not required for the MOT if the car is pre 2009.

Any thought and suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

One of mine was just replaced after falling off after replacing the inner jet that had failed. Going to remove fuse 40 so they don't operate. With yours could you just silicon them in place and do the same. As yous ay, pre-2009 washers aren't required when it comes to an MOT.

I pulled Fuse 40 on my preious Coupe so I didn't lose any caps, or washer jets!

When I got my current one the nearside one was leaking - 2 litres of screenwash disappeared in 2 days. :o

As it was December I had to do something with it so I could use the screenwashers! Luckily I managed to buy a used one on here and Ross at RBM (bowser134 on here) managed to use bits from both to get it working properly, so when I got home out came Fuse 40!

Unfortunately one of the clips on the cap broke so I bought a new one, painted it and fitted it and since then my headlight washers have been purely ornamental.

Thanks all. So I have ordered a couple of replacement caps and hopefully there is enough overlap for me to secure them in place with a little clear silicon. This also means I can replace the nozzles and get them working again in the future if I want, however I doubt that will happen.
