I've just polished my headlights and they look soooo much better. :D

I used the autoglym kit, which included everything you need apart from a water spray and a power drill. But I'm sure I've read somewhere about some sort of UV sealant that can be applied to the headlights, to help stop the plastic degrading so much in future.

Am I imagining this? And if not, is it worthwhile?
 
Definitely worthwhile; I used the same kit to refurb my headlights this time last year and just put a few coats of wax on to seal them, but within 3-4 months they had started yellowing again due to how much sun we had last summer. They were done again at the start of this year by a detailer and he put a ceramic coating on them to stop them deteriorating so quickly again. So far so good.
 
Is it worth using laminX or similar after the polish is completed to prevent this and maintain the finish?
 
Didn't realise it was UV that did this. Explains why mine are still good after 11 years. Zed lives inside. :) Neighbour over the road brought home a 350z on Saturday. First job was to polish the lights. Think he just used cutting paste. Huge improvement, will be intrigued to see how long they stay clear.
 
I bought some uv sealant from Amazon to protect my freshly polished headlamps :thumbsup: i first done them in 2014 and redone them a couple of months ago.

I guess if I had applied the uv sealant more often, the nice clear finish would've lasted longer.
 
I put this on my mk6 fiesta ST's headlamps after a session with the autoglym kit. Works very well
