Headlight upgrade

Not sure you can compare the two anyway, as the beam pattern is different between the two lights, as the nearside throws more out to the kerb etc.

Will be fitting mine at the weekend, one problem I believe though is the way the light is spread. The light cast is bright but not very far, which I believe is the bigger problem, I have had my lights checked and adjusted by the dealer so know they are correct.

But I will let you know how I get on after the weekend.

Not true on a xenon light (or indeed halogen on a Z4) as the beam pattern is decided by the lens and cut off pattern of the reflector. Both are identical internally and the external clear poly lens is not part of the beam focus. For sure the NS is closer to the edge so more of its light may appear to be at the kerb and of course one can be turned to face more left, but the light leaving the unit is the same pattern.

If you put your car in front of a wall you'll see they have the exact same shape beam pattern.

The beam pattern on my Z4 is different the nearside is taller on the left hand side pattern at 45 degree angle so to speak. I will take a picture tonight.

Interesting. Wonder why? See what it looks like against a wall or garage door

Phillips x-treme bulbs fitted over the weekend and driven the car a few times at night since. They do make a difference but I wouldn't say they're "80% brighter". Marginally brighter would be my description. I tried them with one in and one OEM bulb, in a "spot the difference" the x-treme bulbs look brighter and whiter... At a fraction of the cost of even an aftermarket xenon kit I'd recommend them for a slight improvement but you can't expect miracles from bulbs alone at £25.99!

I have photos if anyone is really keen...

HI - Can u share them please? my email is (with no spaces) -->> c s m i h i r @ g m a i l. co m

thanks!

But now it's worth commenting on :wink:

These bulbs put out 1800 Lumens.
35W HID kit: 3200+

Longer life, better output, less than double the cost. HID won for me.
