Thinking of switching out the original headlights in the Coupe for some modern Angel Eyes/HID. Any photos of post conversion on here? The attached shows my car set up on top and another car that I went to see before buying mine that had lenses without the hockey stick indicator and with a shadow/blacked out inside... I'd love to see some Angel Eyes set in Chrome Housings.

The bottoms ones look like the 2Xcite/Sonar ones

Pity the angel eye ring doesn't seem to light up evenly in those photos - maybe it's just a shutter-speed issue?

They have been discussed previously, but don't know if they've been updated since then.

If your car has xenon headlights, then there are no aftermarket units available, so your only option is to cut open the lights. The angel eyes mod was/is popular and there are quite a few threads on here detailing how to do it. Takes some nerve though - if you mess it up, replacement xenons are wincingly expensive....

Thanks... my car doesn't have Xenon lights and whilst the Full Beam is very bright, normal dipped beam is pretty lame. I think the aftermarket housing modernises the look of the car but will read up more about it before changing. Cheers

I've heard comments from a couple of people that the Sonar lights are pretty pants too, and they're not that cheap. And sadly the angel eyes are not recommended to wire up as DRLs (that's what Sonar themselves told me when I asked, after first buying my zed - so I stayed with dim OEM)

I’m stuck with my xenon, don’t mind tho. Happy with the light output but wouldn’t mind getting rid of my orange hockey sticks!

Same here..... I don't see what the fuss is with the output, it's not going to burn anyone's eyes out but by the same token they're decent enough to see.

I think if you don’t have xenon that’s when you’ve not got an inadequate amount of output! Thank the car gods for xenon

£360 for the lights brand new but I’ve sold my own ones for £300 and Labour was £150 all in but that included getting rid of the s**t fog lights and replaced with blanking plates! Everything soldered! 👍

Miles better including spread (width) and you can literally see the cut off line vertically so they ain’t blinding other drivers!

Only thing I’m not too keen on is the side lights at the top but it’s going back to the garage tomorrow to have the wheels retorqued so will speak to them about that.

I had the 2xcite lights in my previous zed. Loved the look of them and I agree that the output is better than oem. A decent quality bulb helps a lot though. I did find however the build quality of the lights was very poor. Poorly crimped connectors, a very lose rubber cover on the back of the light unit meant it was always fogging up.

I’ve found with OEM lights just a little turn of the the level screw thing to raise the light height makes a world of difference.

You can fit an LED bulb into this top light and it makes the world of difference by making the light white instead of yellow and also spreads the light further in the top section (nearly right across the whole top of the light).

You can also turn off the top light altogether by just unscrewing the bulb connector out of the top of the light leaving the bulb in and then seal the hole where the went in with a small plastic disc with sealant to prevent moisture going in. The bulb must be left in to stop warning lights on the dash.

The top lights, halo's and little dot LED's can also be wired separately to either be used as DRL's or side lights, a DRL controller of fleebay is £9 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-DRL-Controller-Auto-Car-LED-Daytime-Running-Light-Relay-Harness-Dimmer-Fog/193290727104?epid=21019778447&hash=item2d01066ec0:g:CxQAAOSwWI1eFMlL

I had these on my previous E85 and I think they look good, picture below using the above mentioned lights as DRL's

I’ve found the same with aftermarket lights on 2 other cars. OEM are a decade old + And still built well and only problems are generally fogging and rear seals deteriorating.

There seems to be quite a few issues with aftermarket units as you might expect. I don't have any fogging issues with my OEMs and they are in pristine condition. They're just a bit naff practically speaking on dark country roads. I also do love the look of an Angel Eye day time running light. Might be worth getting these guys to mod a spare pair of OEM units https://www.customheadlights.co.uk/
