Hi
I want my headlights to come on with the ignition. Has anyone tried to cover up or remove the light sensor to do this? If so, where is it? If not, what’s the best way?

Code using Carly or NCS Expert. A forum search should bring it up looking for ECE or TAGFAHRLICHT_ECE.

Activating the option will allow the switch to be left in auto or on with no warning and turn off lights with ignition off. Xenon halos/angel eyes can be coded to DRL too.
 
It’s built into the rain sensor assembly visible through the windscreen on the rear view mirror mount. Putting any kind of tape on there would be in the wiper sweep area so not ideal. It would also cause the chromatic rear view mirror to be constantly ‘dark’ during daylight which may or may not bother you.

Carly or NCS is the proper way to do it as mentioned above.
 
Hmm, interesting - my 2005 car lets me leave the switch in auto with no warning when i turn off - to be honest thats how i would expect it to work?

That is the correct normal operation. I think the OP is seeking to have the headlights on automatically when the engine is running, even in good daylight.

Yes but they also won't turn on unless it's dark.

As I understand it (not tried yet), with TAGFAHRLICHT_ECE activated they will be on all the time with ignition on in Auto or On with no warning.
Obviously in auto there is no warning either but lights will only come on when activated by the sensor.

That's the one. I like to have my lights on all the time but don't want to have to do it manually all the time.

Not sure what "As I understand it (not tried yet), with TAGFAHRLICHT_ECE activated they will be on all the time with ignition on in Auto or On means though :oops:

You simply need to have someone turn the option TAGFAHRLICHT_ECE on, then headlights will come on with the ignition when set to Auto.

So you either need to get a cable and NCS Expert to do it yourself or another coding app, or find someone who has.
 
or you could also expend approx 1/2 watt of energy by turning the lights-on switch as and when required.

Can you not just toggle the switch to "on" and leave it there? I'm sure when the engine is off the lights turn off anyway?
I'm not 100% as I've got auto lights, but the feature is there for lights all the time. Just not sure about whether they switch off with the engine or not?

I assume headlights as DRL is an option in Carly, using TAGFAHRLICHT_ECE. I am unsure if high beams as running lights in the UK is legal.

Leaving the headlamp switch in the ON position will turn all the usual lights on; turning the ignition off leaves all position lights, dash and number plate lights on too.
Enabling TAGFAHRLICHT_ECE and leaving the headlight switch ON will disable the warning when turning ignition off and opening door but also then fully turn the lights off.
It's even better in AUTO as it will only turn the headlights on in daylight, lighting the rest up as normal via the sensor.
