Headlight rebuild

It has been a while since I've been on the forum, having sold my old 3.0, but I just bought another and I wanted to do a few bits to it.

From memory, there was someone on hear that could rebuild the standard pre-facelift lights, with the amber hockey-stick, and change the lense to a clear unit; does that ring any bells with anyone?

Replacing the lens (projectors) is not that difficult, you just need some proper tools and replace the lens through the back of the headlight. I don't know about replacing the amber hockey-stick however, I didn't bother with it.

Around 10 years ago this was a popular mod. Now people just buy the facelift lights and fit those. If you have prefacelift Xenons you can't do this so you have to live with the amber hockey stick or buy 2 facelift headlights and split those. Remove the clear hockey sticks and then fit those to your current lights.

[Ref]enuff_zed[/ref] did tell me recently that he knew of someone who bought Sonas(?) headlights and fitted those and they worked with the prefacelift Xenon light control module and wiring. Straight swap.

This would be a cheaper option as your headlights are worth around £500 and the Sonas(?) lights are around £500 new.

If you swap hockey sticks you will likely be down £3‐400 unless you find broken headlights with little value.

If swapping halogen for halogen then it's a straight swap for prefacelift to facelift headlights.
