headlight problems ??

hi
need some help with my headlights.
lights are on auto ( dark outside ) turn the ignition on, and start the car the headlights come on then do the self level dip, but then both lights go off !!??
if I turn the ignition off and wait for the self level sequence to complete all is ok !
I know what your gonna say wait for the sequence then start the car, however I have never bothered to do that before, anybody know whats going on ??

Any other electrical gremlins?

If the battery is on the way out then this could be the issue. These cars seem to suffer with all sorts of minor electrical issues when the battery is on the way out.

no other gremlins, but will keep a watchful eye incase they do ,cheers for heads up
