Mods feel free to move to the right place?

I needed to sort my headlights- one was full of condensation and the other was wobbly- which I assumed would be an MOT fail

I bought the kit to repair- from eBay but BMW OEM (Hella)- note these are side specific! Comes with 4 clips to repair any broken ones and screws to secure

My offside kit was 63 12 6 932 824

Procedure was as follows:

Car was jacked up for other works
Undo the 5 8mm bolts from the engine under tray front
Around each wheel arch liner, there are push rivets or similar securing the liner to the front bumper- push out
A small clip at the apex of where the bumper meets the wing and at the bottom of the arch- mine were MIA
Undo the 7 Torx 25 bolts across the front slam panel
At this point the bumper came off- so 2 people to support is wise
Undo the foglight wiring and its away

I then started on the headlamps themselves- there are 4 torx screws holding each one in- 2 underneath, one at each top corner.

Headlamps come away by unclipping the 2x wiring plugs

There is the broken one!
With both headlights out I took the opportunity to DRY the wet one and clean my fish eye projector lenses- 4x7mm bolts held them in, easy to take out

And swap over my backplate rubber seals- left to right and right to left

Onto the bracket replacement- all the brackets have 'grooves' that site the new ones in place- some fettling was needed to make the fit snug as there was a load of old plastic where it was going to sit

So the new one sat well

And screwed up tight

And thats it- both headlamps in great nick now, seals to last a while, misting gone from lenses and dry!

I have 3 clips left over which I will post up in the for sale area if anyone can use them

As always drop me a line for guidance!

Cheers

Stuart

Nice write up. Would be good to get my hands on a set of these clips so I can model them in CAD and then we'd have some 3d printable versions.

Now that’s a good idea- I struggled to get a kit outside of dealers- most seem to be in Latvia or Lithuania
