Headlight issue

Nightmare! Z4M =

Halo bulb stopped working o/s so I followed the tutorials on here to remove the holder unit and drill to remove the bulb and replace. Nice an easy.

However, I I left the garage door open overnight accidentally (I blame the evening beer) and it lashed it down meaning water got inside the headlight and filled the bottom with approx 1cm of water. I syphoned the water out of the headlight unit and left the car in the garage overnight with a low heater inside the wheel arch to dry the headlight out for 2 days.

2 days later, low and behold, the main Xenon has stopped working.

I’ve swapped the pack behind the bulb and the bulb itself with the other side and no change.

Any suggestions?

The only other component is the ballast, which is under the headlight and prone to flooding.

Can be tested by swapping with the working side, but it's a PITA to get to.

I had a new Ballast in Jan.

Garage quoted £270 for parts.

I bought this: https://www.hids-direct.co.uk/new-ballast-for-hella-gen-4-oem-hid-xenon-headlamp-d2s-d2r-5dv-008-290-00/

£35

Same make, same part number. Garage couldn't believe it and were happy to fit it.

It will be the ballast- take the headlight off (May as well when you have number off anyway) and take it in the house to fully dry out for the few days while you wait for the ballast to arrive.
