Headlight full of water!

Had constantly misted up drivers side headlamp so decided this morning to investigate. Armed with the hairdryer I jacked the car up but could I remove the front wheel! I think the worlds strongest man must work at KwikFit, so I locked the wheel hard over and removed the inspection flap, pulled the clip down and removed the cover. To my horror there must have been 10mm of water sloshing around in the headlight! After about an hour of poking and proding with all sorts of paper roll and rag I managed to clear it. Played the hairdryer on it for about another half hour and fingers crossed its sorted. I turned the seal inside out before reassembling which will do until I get to the dealer. Is this a normal amount of water through a dodgy seal? :?

Given enough time (and the weather over the last few months) that is definitely possible.

Did you check the seal to see where the water was getting in?

Well funny you should mention that... The clip had been pushed back too far so had gone past it's seating position on the bit in the centre. You think that's poss the prob? I've put it back properly now though :D

Hopefully you've sorted it by flipping the seal. It worked for me. By the way, did you try tapping your wheel with a rubber mallet when it wouldn't come off? Mine often seem to 'stick' but a sharp tap always does the trick. Remember to leave a couple of loose bolts in though!

No mine was the bolts were so tight I could see the square drive on my bar starting to twist. I'll have to get a spider brace or wiz it down to the local tyre depot.
