headlight covers ?

Hi,

Problems never seem to end with this car.
I finally managed to get HID kit installed, only to find out that the bloke who did it left moisture in it. I examined the seals on the cover plates and the rubber was turning into dust.
I know the part numbers, but cannot for the life of me, find any place to buy them online.
Does anyone know if I can order them online instead of paying 20something quid for each one at the dealer?

Thank you

They're about 12£ each from the dealer, I ordered one this weekend.

I can find the part numbers no problem if you want them?

63126928413 for left headlight cover & 63126928414 for right headlight cover, correct ? Where did you get them from, Sytner ?

Just my local BMW (Stephen james Ruxley)

07 LEFT HEADLIGHT COVER 1 63126928413
07 RIGHT HEADLIGHT COVER 1 63126928414

That's ridiculous, Sytner was asking for 20.50 for each.
I think I'll go with a clear automotive silicon and the silica packs NeilP suggested.

those packets of silica gel. stick one of them in the back of the cap.

Somebody did that on here with horrific results. Can't remember the exact conditions but their plug and wiring dissolved due to chemical reaction with the silica getting wet.

Ok, maybe not then :)

Not with silica gel, they used something very different. Silica gel is perfectly safe to use.

The other person used carbon chloride. A search for that on here will take you to his post.

Don't silicon it - it will be a complete PITA if you need to get in again, and you will. It will take you ages to clean it all off so you can reapply it again... I know, I have to do it with my c/f wheel badges every time I change my wheels over.

Do what AlanJ says - call Sopers of Lincoln, ask for Jamie in Parts, tell him from the forum and you will get about 10% discount, incl. delivery. Should only be about £22 for both, an extremely good investment for the money.
