Headlight condensation won't stay away

Yes, as outlined in the original post, the lens isn't cracked but a bit underneath was slightly damaged. In fairness it didn't start showing any signs of condensation till it got really cold. It was only £60 so I wasn't expecting perfection, but if the seal repair works then i'm laughing. If not, I can use the internals and lenses on another light.
Irritatingly i've had countless niggly problems with this car and every fix has seemed to present more problems - when do I get to start enjoying it and driving the 'ultimate driving machine' you all wax on about?
'Niggles' happen on older cars but I always console myself wit the fact that even if I just sent the car to a garage to fix everything the cost would be way less than a Ford Focus in terms of PCP, interest depreciation or any combo of them
My daughters 1 series has just been in for a water pump, broken bonnet cable and leaking washer that I don't have time to fix. Cost will be less than a monthly repayment on a newer car
Thats a good way of looking at it - bar the clutch, it's not actually cost me very much to repair, just taken a lot of time. Hopefully this will be the last of the trouble and I can start enjoying the car. Having to use a low, rwd convertible as a daily in winter doesn't do anything to aid the appeal either! Bring on the sun!
I fixed mine in situ...remove back cover, dry out as much as possible with kitchen roll as there was a visible puddle of water in the bottom, then i put 2 big bags of silica gel in, (large bags bout a fiver for ten on the bay) left them in there with the cover back on until the light was completely dry...about 4 days or so...then removed the silica bags, took the seal out of the cover, cleaned it and put it back in reversed and then smeared the seal with grease and refitted the cover, it has been bone dry ever since
