Headlight Condensation? Quick fix or any for sale?

Hi all,

New to the forum. New to the fun of a Z4. Just recently bought a 2004 E85 (65k miles!) and already discovering it's easily the most fun way to indulge my mid-life crisis. The car (not named her yet!) has a beige interior which has come up beautifully with a bit of care and attention. Some cosmetic retouching to the paint has made the outside shine nicely too.

But the driver's side headlight is full of condensation. And, well... it looks like a she's crying. It's making us both sad.

So, does anyone have an easy fix? (Take off the rear cover and air on a warm day? Gentle hair dry? Full beams for an hour?) And a way to stop the tears from returning?

Failing that, anyone got a nice, clear N/S headlight with the orange indicator for sale?

Also, later models seem to have no orange strip. Does anyone know if these all-white lamps can be retro-fitted to a 2004 model?

Cheers!

New seal required by the sounds of it.

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/292035563062

Ah, great! Thanks for the link. Much appreciated. Hopefully a dry day or two and then this should sort it. Cheaper than a new light!

i got mine from my local synster dealer for 15 quid..
take it out and check and clean it , then shove a small hair dryer inside on LOW and leave it in there for 30 mins so its nice and toasty and all the moisture is gone, while its doing that, ,put some silicon grease on the rubber ..and put it back and try that before you buy the rubber seal

As above, did mine for £15 from dealers. I however got a heat gun on the front of the lense, just exercise caution and keep it moving. It did the job really quickly with no need to remove the light. Just obviously make sure the cover is off when you do it ;)

If you have xenon's you will need to address that asap in case the condensate trickles down over the ballast and fries it....like mine did. grrr

As above. I was in a rush earlier.

Yes, hi and welcome.

Your car looks great - maybe that photo should go on the "beading" thread in the Gallery!
