Hi All

Typically, I booked my car in for its MOT yesterday and today one of my Xenon headlight gave up the ghost.

Bit confused with all the varies options, anything better than these worth considering?

Thanks.

Just checked the light again and both headlights came on. If I switch them off and on the one side fails, then comes back on again. Looks like it maybe a igniter problem. Will need to swop them over and try and pin this down before the MOT. :headbang:

One of my headlight bulbs died in early 2020 and I was also totally confused by all the alternatives, and the claimed brightness/performance too!

I bought them based on a recommendation someone posted and have been more than happy with them, even when having some fun on unlit A roads after dark. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0068M1DRS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

But now I see they only claimed an extra 20% and have been superseded by a newer version that claims another 150% - and the ones you've found claim +200%!

Call me cynical but is that really possible?

Anyway I hope you get yours sorted OP.

The osraam night breakers are a good bet. I went for the blueish ones, but that's a personal choice.

Also check the connectors are securely in place as one of mine wasn't when I replaced the bulbs.

Their arriving today. I still can’t get my head around how Amazon manage to deliver to Highland Perthshire in under 24hrs, great service.
I’ve removed the bulbs this morning in preparation, the failing one is slightly discoloured. Would certainly advise removing the front wheels, much easier.

Same here; went for the 6000k versions and they’ve been brilliant, and are just the right shade of xenon blue.

The above bulbs have been fitted and are an improvement, however not as big a difference as advertised, but much better.
Took the opportunity to switch over the seals on the rear covers, turns them over so like new

I'm running these too, they seemed to be the best option when I was looking.

The marketing is a bit creative though... the 200% is relative to the minimum legal standard, rather than their original bulbs, "delivering up to 200% more brightness compared to the minimum legal standard".

In fact Osram's specs for the Xenarc Original D2S and the Xenarc Night Breaker Laser D2S show the same light output of 3200 lumens.
