I know this has been covered before but after searching for a while, I give up!

can anybody either direct me towards the correct page or tell me how to repair a broken bracket on the headlight? it's the one on the right hand side of the passenger side

Cool, any questions just shout.

just one question, what if the bracket/lug is broken and missing? how do you go about making one up? I have bought a headlight (which I haven't received yet) but have been told one of the lugs is broken.

appreciate your help

It shouldn't be too hard to fabricate something. Take a pic when you get the light of what's broken. I have a sheet of ABS plastic which you should be able to use - I'll just cut a bit of the right size, and a spare bit, and pop it into the post... you'll be able to heat and fold the plastic in with the original. Actually, I'll see if I can make something up before sending it out. But I'll still make sure I send you enough spare to have a go yourself in case it doesn't work.

what a gentleman, really appreciate it

will post a photo when I get the headlight :)

here is the photo of the broken lug/bracket:

also, on the other side, the clear part on the top of the lug is broken, does that matter? (tiny little clear tab you can see in this photo)

thanks once again for your help.

Thanks. Can you post a couple more pictures head on and from the back? Also, this is the driver's side light?

Don't worry about that clear tab, it was missing on one of my lights - think it's missing on others as well.

And no problem, happy to help if I can... but lets see if I can make one that works first! The tricky part will be that little bit of pipe, thankfully though the placement on this tab is quite free, IIRC.

One last thing... how soon do you need this?

I have some points to add:

1. No you don't need that clear tab, it doesn't do anything.

2. Not sure you need to bother with a soldering iron, I had a tab snap off and used simply epoxy glue to stick it back on and it's solid as a rock.

3. I have a smashed drivers side headlight in my garage which I don't need with tabs intact. I could cut the tab off it and send it to you if you require.

this place is just amazing

tomTVR,

will pm you later on this evening, that would be a great help and speeds things up :P

once again, thanks to both of you :happyclap:

The epoxy is certainly an easier option - I go with soldering as, after a couple tests, it was stronger, set quicker and gave some flex. But may well be overkill for this - I don't think that tab does a lot.

Much better offer, will be right first time and perfect shape... good man, Tom
