Headlamp washers adjustment

My headlamp washers spray brown water all over the bonnet. Are they incorrectly adjusted? And why is the water discolored?

I went to have a look at them but forgot that they are captive.

It’s the same reservoir as the windscreen washers so check the fluid there. The headlamp washers are spring loaded (and simply pop up on the water pressure from the pump) so will pull up easily enough with a plastic tool, or have an assistant operate them and grab them before they retract.

They all spray over the bonnet and are not adjustable .

Yes, I got fed up with all the "stripes" up the front wings and bonnet.

Sadly I don't have Bi-Xenons, but at least that means I don't need to have working headlight washers for the MOT so I just pulled the fuse (No. 40 I think)!

Dear lord, what a design.

I'll check the reservoir and any filters, at least if the water isn't brown it'll be less noticeable.
