Err being new to the whole Z4 experience could one of you kind people help me with this issue.
My headlamp washers do not function :( on the washer bottle should there be two pumps? Or does the system use just one to operate the screen and headlamp washers.
Could someone please post the workshop guide page so I can try and sort this one out my self rarther than the garage having more of my hard earned.
Thanks in advance

There are two pumps- one at the front of the water res and one at the rear- the front does the headlights. If the system has been totally empty it will not fire the headlight washers as there is a vacuum of air in the system- solution is to turn lights on switch ignition on (engine doesn't need to run but ignition to position 2) fire washers, ignition off repeat process until it fires washers- can take almost a full tank of washer fluid to sort. Good luck

I've just re-instated my Headlamp Washers this evening.

For some reason the pump had been removed from the washer bottle, and the hole bunged up with a plug. It was picked up on the MOT, the nice man said he can't fail it for not working as the part isn't there but said he was sure that anyone who cleans the inside of the wheels would have it sorted by next year !!!

When contacted, the previous owner said had disconnected it as he was fed up with the water going all up the bonnet every time he washed the windscreen, but time will tell if there are other underlying issues or leaks.

Anyway, a new £9 motor inserted , plugged in and connected to the hose, then a fair few squirts to clear the air out and bingo !

However, it is worth noting that you do need to reset the ignition (off/on) for each squirt as it seems that a second squirt will only activate the windscreen. It must be programmed to only give one Headlamp squirt per journey.

It doesn't pump every time. Just the first time the car is started and headlights on, then something like every 5 cycles of the windscreen washer.

Just an addition,

I had similar issues, one headlamp washer (drivers side operating perfectly- the nearside not). I cleaned the reservoir (not that it needed much cleaning) and the washer unit would not bleed. So I removed the bumper (honest - it's only a 10 minute job) and took off the spray unit. I scrubbed it in the kitchen sink in warm water then operated it by hand a few times. It really didn't seem to be making a difference, and then it started to get heavy as it started to fill with water. So I refitted it, and operated the washer control, and it started to operate perfectly.

I think it wasn't bleeding, and operating it by hand in warm soapy water just forced it to cooperate!
