Headlamp wash

Just got the zed back from the paint shop. They removed and sprayed the front bumper.
Now I can't seem to get the headlamp washers to work.
Before I take the car back, just wanted to make sure I was not doing anything stupid..
If they disconnected the battery would that have done anything?

Lights on
Headlamps on
Wipers on
Multiple squirts ( up to 20) onto windscreen does not make the headlamp washers work.

I recoded with Carly last year, could I have deactivated this function?
 
Sounds like they've not connected them. Can you hear the pump working for the headlight washers? Is water coming from the bottom of the bumper?
 
Check that the headlamp washer pump is 1) in place on the front side of the washer bottle, and 2) plugged in to the wiring.

My bet would be the wiring connector is either not connected or damaged when the removed the bumper.

There is no wiring, just the hose for the jets.

Well I never knew that! Do they just lift on the water pressure then?

Yes, there is a separate electric pump mounted on the front side of the reservoir that sends water down a pipe to the washer jet units when required. The washer jets extend up from the bumper under the pressure of the water and then squirt out of the nozzle when the lifter piston hits the end of its stroke.

This is correct. The lowest pump is windscreen, the higher one is headlights. No electronic tomfoolery on the actual nozzles, water pressure makes them rise.

Which also stops them working when the level in the reservoir is low, to preserve the water for the washers, so make sure it's full when testing..

As DLV said, make sure your washer bottle is topped off. Also the headlamp pumps only work every few washes.

..which is definitely codeable in Carly as have changed it myself to the minimum (every 7 IIRC), however it still washes headlamps on the first application after an ignition cycle (at least mine does). It's only subsequent ones after that on the same journey where it does it once in every 7 screen washes.
 
Be sure to get them tested fully:
Lights on
Engine on
Washer reservoir full
first cycle only
Hose will need priming if bumper off and they let it drain so perhaps a few full engine on and off cycles

Nothing worse than going back and them firing first time :)
 
Mine was doing the same when I had my bumper sprayed, it needed a good few goes with the headlights on before it worked again.... must needed priming as the water drained out from the pump and the tubes. :thumbsup:
 
Have you got your lights on, as the washers only activate when your headlights are on.

5 is the minimum in NCS I think but may not be the same in carly, duration and pause between pulses too and possibly 2/3 squirts. I've got a leak on one of mine so have just turned them off!
