Headaches

3 years ago I suffered from daily headaches that lasted for around 3 months - finally saw a neurologist who diagnosed cluster tension headaches - they disappeared finally but lately have returned - not quite as bad yet as before but I don't want to go through another 3 months . These . I believe , are usually brought on by anxiety- odd because I have been described in the past as so laid back as almost horizontal. Paracetamol is effective but I don't like taking these too much. Any suggestions that may help ?

I get the same thing on an infrequent basis, I get a headache just above my right temple that sort of pulses with each heartbeat but also gets is less painful until it goes then a couple of minutes later it will repeat, Paracetamol tends to eleviate it. I suspected it was my top teeth on that side as they are a bit sensitive

My Missus is a headache expert and she said it sounded like a cluster headache, me being the hypercondiac that I am thought it was a brain tumour mostly since I've had a mobile stuck to my bonce since the mid 80's and despite all the evidence to the contrary I still don't like using the moby too much now.

My worst ones (i.e. major headache with unbelievable pain and the feeling of not being able to do anyting) are all sinus related and happen on my right temple. Did not find a solution yet - nothing really works.

Tiredness/stress causes a baby headache on my left temple and these are of no consequence to me and i can go ahead with my normal life - these are usually easily removed by Nurofen.

I know what you mean and with the internet being the font of all knowledge I too was worried about a possible brain tumour - fortunately I never had or have now symptoms like seizures , sight problems ,forgetfulness etc. The neurologist said outside of physical causes ie a tumour there is still no known medical reason for such headaches.

Due to the time of year, could these not be sinus related?

I had terrible headaches on the temple and forehead. Basically all my sinuses we blocked and a course of anti-biotics sorted it.

Just a suggestion. Otherwise it's an aneurysm..... :D

H,

I used to suffer a lot of headaches in my younger years, until I went to the dentist for a check up, (hadn't been for years  ) and found my wisdom teeth were growing the wrong way. I had all my wisdom teeth out and have never looked back  . I still get headaches but are mostly self inflicted

I suffer from Tension headaches, I was offered tablets or steroid injections into my skull which didn't sound great to me, so I decided to try massages to relieve any built up tension in my neck and upper back to see if that helped and It does for me.

I wouldn't say that I feel I need a massage but the throbbing headache tells me differently. I'm fortunate that my work heavily subsidises 'seated massages' which concentrate on the head, neck, shoulders, back and arms so for £8 I get half an hour of slight discomfort as they properly work it out of me but I feel great afterwards. The headaches go and I feel a lot better.

It maybe something you wish to explore if you've not already done so, it may help relieve the symptoms.

Could be you testicles?

True story.

Joe was a successful lawyer, but as he got older he was increasingly hampered by incredible headaches. When his career and love life started to suffer, he sought medical help. After being referred from one specialist to another, he finally came across an old country doctor who solved the problem. "The good news is I can cure your headaches... the bad news is that it will require castration." You have a very rare condition which causes your testicles to press up against the base of your spine and the pressure creates one hell of a headache. The only way to relieve the pressure is to remove the testicles." Joe was shocked and depressed. He wondered if he had anything to live for. He couldn’t concentrate long enough to answer, but decided he had no choice but to go under the knife. When he left the hospital he was without a headache for the first time in 20 years, but he felt like he was missing an important part of himself.

As he walked down the street, he realized that he felt like a different person. He could make a new beginning and live a new life. He saw a men’s clothing store and thought, "that’s what I need .. a new suit." He entered the shop and told the salesman, "I’d like a new suit." The elderly tailor eyed him briefly and said, "Let’s see... size 42 long." Joe laughed, "That’s right, how did you know?" "Been in business 60 years!" Joe tried on the suit. It fit perfectly.

As Joe admired himself in the mirror, the salesman asked, "how about a new shirt?" Joe thought for a moment and then said "sure..." The salesman eyed Joe and said "let’s see...34 sleeves and...16 and a half neck." Joe was suprised, "that’s right, how did you know?" "Been in the business 60 years" Joe tried one the shirt, and it fit perfectly. As Joe adjusted the collar in the mirror, the salesman asked "how about some new shoes?" Joe was on a roll and said "sure!" The salesman eyed Joe’s feet and said "Let’s see... 10-1/2...E." Joe said astonished, "that’s right, how did you know?" "Been in business 60 years!" Joe tried on the shoes and they fit perfectly.

Joe walked comfortably around the shop and the salesman asked "how about some new underwear?" Joe thought for a second and said, "sure!" The salesman stepped back, eyed Joe’s waist and said "Let’s see... size 36." Joe laughed, "Ah ha! I got you I’ve worn a size 34 since I was 18 years old." "The salesman shook his head, "you can’t wear a size 34, it will press your testicles up against the base of your spine and give you one hell of a headache."

quick story that may help ..... used to get headaches when I was about 36 ...... even to the stage of wishing I was dead ..... lol
one day when I was with a customer I felt a million ants run up the back of my neck, then I woke up in hospital. 3 months of tests followed ....... end result was ........ stress.

I thought stress was in your mind, its not, its physical ...... when you start pushing yourself like at work , or things start bothering you, the blood vessels in your neck expand ..... in doing so they squeeze the nerves ..... (not a lot of room in there) ...... causes headaches and finally blacking out.

once I knew what it was my life changed ...... never been stressed since and don't have headaches.

Stress is not a mental weakness, its pushing your brain to do more work than it can .......

I had no idea I was stressed lol ...... but there you go ....
