So probably like many others out there my head unit volume and navi knobs are looking old and out out date so decided to change them. Now I know lots out there use the ones from the X3 as a straight swap but they are £29 from bmw and about £30 each on eBay.
So my challenge was to find a cheaper alternative. I chose the ones from an E90 which as also a straight swap .... but they are smaller in diameter, part number for these is 65129119442 which you can get for £15 each on eBay. So these arrived and I needed to fill the circular gap to make they look as factory as I could. The solution was a 22mm washer found on eBay for £2.69 for 5 link below:

I then superglued them to the bottom of the knob and they fit perfectly, so for £32.69 you have a change for half the price of the X3 option and they feel great to use.
