Hi all , can some one tell me what bulb i need for my headlight and where to get them.
i think it's a xenon bulb these are the numbers on it
HG E1
D2S O3V
35W ODT
85122
2L307

my car is a Z4 3.0l 2004

Thanks

DS2 for main beam - check Osram they do a good one. Dealer will be very expensive.

High beam will probably be a H7 (believe your model's lights will be the same as the Xenons on the Alpinas)

Any idea why it's gone? Are the headlights going misty?

They are DS2 , the bulb went due to water getting in the back of the light when i changed the side light bulb and did not put the cover back on right , i changed the head light bulb still did not work, i swapped the ballast over from the other light and it worked , so i need a ballast now .

Cheapest ballast I found was on eBay. Dealer was extortionate, and eBay had reconditioned or new, both with a 12 month guarantee (reconditioned was around £70). Not impressed with the BMW design though, having the ballast at the base.

Main beam is high beam though. Dipped beam is what you're looking for

Guys - what are you talking about?
On a prefacelift Zed (which OPs is) the xenon is both the dipped and main (created by a moving shutter). The halogen is a 'flash to pass' and supplemental high beam.

dunc3 - you've identified what is the most common issue of a failed light - the ballast - caused no doubt in your case as water drains out the base of the light into the ballast.

Here's the one I'd buy on ebay for £25 ...
