Head light bulb replacement.

Hi everyone, hope you all had a great Christmas

I just got back in my Z after a break over Christmas and the snow mostly now gone and I have blown one of my headlight bulbs.

I have bought a replacement, but embarrassingly I just can't open the access panel in the front wheel arch to get to the bulb holder.

I have two plastic screws I can turn with a screw driver, they each have a flat edge and a rounded edge, but whichever way I turn them they do not release the panel.

Can anyone help?

This is basic I know, but I'm putting it down to too much drink over Christmas.

Thanks in advance for any help

Just turm them 90 degrees or so until the flat edge (as you describe it) aligns with the corner of the panel and the hatch can be gently pulled open with finger tips. Use a 2p coin to turn them.

Easier to do than explain.

Post again when you need to get the access hatch on the light open :poke:

get the flat edges lined up with the corners of the hatch and it should virtually fall off, easier if you jack the body off the wheels as much as you can

I did it!

Brute force in the end as it was not going to budge, took it out by the two little flaps first

I made it a mission not to post for help for the next stage, and managed it :D

Isn't it strange how retro fitting cruise control on a car can be easier than changing a blown bulb

I wondered if that would provide adequate motivation to fix it. Job done !! I hope you reseated the cover properly, no trapped wires, etc. else you'll be reading up on misted headlights....

You must need to fix it so that it will have a good condition for your light bulb. I think it would also be better to choose the best bulb for the headlights. Try to replace it as soon as possible.

Abhijit - welcome to the Forum, put a post in the newbie section with details of your Zed

old'ish thread this but just found this pair of Osram H7 Nigh Breaker Plus bulbs on ebay for £14.79 plus postage and they're £27 elsewhere.
