Head Lamp polishing

Does anybody have experience of companies polishing faded headlamp lens , mine like many others have started to fad on the top areas due to climatic reasons , any advise welcome .

Hello

Its easy to do yourself I used Maguire's kit ,All you need is a drill mine tuned out great ,Kit comes with instructions

Bought the 3m kit but am shitting it a bit to actually try it. Couple of marks on min from stones etc but are quite clear.

Will have to man up

Agreed - I've used the 3M kit and as long as you follow the straightforward instructions and take your time (took me 2 hours to do both) you can get excellent results - def a diy job :)

The detailing guys that spruced up my daily uses the 3m kit, 10year old lenses that have done 140k came up crystal clear, really genuinely amazing transformation.

Thanks for that. It looks straightforward from the instructions but good other from folk who have done it.

Once you get them polished back up id recommend laminex filming them. They will never fade or craze again
I've had it on mine and it's still looking brand new over 2 years on. Protects from stone chips etc too.

You dont even need a kit! You just need some 1500, 2000 and perhaps 2500grit wet/dry sandpaper and some polish like Farecla G3.

Just soak the sand paper and sand the lights well with each grade moving up to 2500 (after masking off your paintwork). Finally polish with the G3 and then notmal wax/polish.

Mine came out like clear glass after this. Just remember that they will look dull after the 1500 and less so the 2000 - dont panic :)

I've used the 3M kit on my DD with good results, but feel that they don't supply enough discs to get it perfect, especially if they are bad.

Did the Zed last week using my DA with 1500 and 3000 discs, followed by a polish with Meguiars 105 & 205, they came up like new!

Used the Meguiars kit recently and finished it off with some UV sealant. £15 on special offer. Really impressed with the results.

aye it's easy, done it a couple of times, and sealed it with gtechniq c4
(tinted mine now though)

Minty toothpaste is just as effective and tastes much better. Its slightly abrasive abd really does work.

I did mine on the car, although it's easier to get the corners with them off the car. If you do them in situ make sure you mask off the surrounding bodywork well.
