Head lamp bulbs.

Fitted today a Philips x-TremeVision Gen 2 bulb to the left lamp.
The existing was starting to get a yellow tinge, but still worked fine.
To get at you need to take the wheel off and wheel arch trim.
Will compare to the original still fitted to the right.
What came out was a Philips XenStart, i am assuming that's the standard fit.
Be interesting to see if it's much brighter, as the right has done 80k plus miles.

I expect you will lash out next year and replace the other one

They do.
Now at work i pointed the headlights at a white wall and the new bulb is definitely brighter with a larger hot spot.

I bought a pair, just fitted the one to measure the difference. Don't think you would want to change these that often at £50-80 each.

grins widely, im sure. although there are some super duper led lights made by philips i have my eye on ..at a cool 130 quid for 2

Left is new bulb, right old bulb, but the brighter of the originals.

Been running these bulbs now for month or so and can say they are much better than the one's i removed being the oem (although had done nearly 80k miles as i have the mains on all the time).
The main beam seems wider hot spot as the oem seemed to have a very narrow vertical bright spot with a lot of light above the road. Dipped is brighter with perhaps a sharper cut off. The verges are lit up more.
I can recommend as retro fit and worth the money (about £120 pair).
Plus i have yet to be flashed by another driver.

To change the bulbs you will need to remove the wheels and wheel arch liner to get at the bulbs.

I don't think leds are there yet, the bulb design, they stick out the rear too much for the cap to fit back on, being the draw back and brightness. And hid life probably better than some overheated led.

I need to do this. My dipped headlights are disappointing. They do need to be better adjusted though (especially after some idiot drove into my car ).
