HD Radio Question

I just purchased a 2009 Z4 sDrive30i. It has the HD Radio with 8 speakers (midrange and tweeter in doors, subwoofer in kick panel, and midrange in shoulder panel). I would like to keep the radio, as it is integrated with the iDrive, but upgrade the rest of the system. Does anyone know if the HD Radio has a separate amplifier, and if so, where is it located?

If it does have an amplifier then it'll be located in the trunk, behind the carpet panel that is covering the bulkhead into the cabin. Just to the right of where the ski hatch is (if it was fitted)

8 speakers probably means no Amp
