Hazards and headlights flashing when parked, but no alarm?

Hi All,

I've been told a few times at work that my "Alarm is going off"... However all my car is doing is flashing its lights without the beeping. I#m pretty certain the siren is fine, as i have locking chirps, and it indeed went off a few weeks ago when jacking up the rear end for a tyre change.

Has anyone experienced this before? Could this be to do with the bonnet sensor?

Thanks for reading... Ed :)

I had the same problems with mine :(
Turned out to be the siren module and interior sensor unit! Cost £500 to replace both :(
Hope your problem is more easily fixed!

I cant see it being this as the OP said it went off when he was working on the car recently?

Great info thanks chaps, the alarm may have been going off for a while actually so maybe the sound was there originally. Ill have to try setting it off sometime purpousefully... without the aid of a brick!

Yea, I would change the Bonnet switch. Sounds like a very familiar problem that I had several times in the past.

If you have a roadster. Open the roof, lock it and lean in and wave your hand in the footwell this should set it off

Mine keeps doing this, only seems to happen on hotter days however. I suspect it to be a sensor of some sort but I'm in no rush to bother to fix it to be honest as it doesn't particularly bother me.

Ed,
As said change the bonnet sensor. You can test it by simply disconnecting it and seeing if you get any more false alarms.

£5 on eBay to get a replacement.

If you open the boot its right in the middle towards the back I think. You should see a little plastic stub sticking up.

Hi Cj,

I'd like to try this myself but I don't know where the sensor is. Any chance you could post a pic at all?

Follow the 2 strut braces to the point at which they meet and there's the bonnet switch

I have recently had the bonnet sensor and the tilt sensor replaced yet my neighbours say my hard lights flash some nights?

Only thing I can think of is that I park on my driveway which is a slight hill?

Any thoughts guys?

Alternatively, can someone point me in the direction of disabling it all together, (I live in the Isle of Man and we have little to no car theft here).

Cheers

Pressing lock twice on the remote will disengage it. Also works if you turn lock twice manually on door.

Thanks Power

Is there a quick way to disable the entire system altogether or would it include lots of wires?
