After responding that my last one and my current Z4 didn’t suffer this, I am currently sat waiting for recovery after the water pump failed this morning... fortunately I was a mile from the motorway exit when the temp gauge flipped to the red... I’m at 70800 miles.... arse.

Changed mine for peace of mind at around 70k as part of pre Highlands tour.Who would leave plugs, oil, filters, brake fluid ,coolant etc.in service until failure? The electric pump is short lived, but very efficient, just accept it and change it

Commiserations  Is this a blacktop or silvertop engine? Hopefully you'll get it sorted and be back on the road quickly with no ill effects.
