Have UK dealers messed up my service history?

I have just had my car serviced at a main dealer for potentialy the last time.

After seeing one of the threads recently about the order of service on our cars, it got me thinking and I'm no longer sure what is going on with mine, part of the problem is I have moved house a few times over the last few years and each service has been carried out at a different dealer.

@ approx 15500 miles I had a Oil service carried out.

@ approx 33000 miles I had a second Oil service carried out, brake fluid was changed at this time. (I have always thought this was wrong and should have been an inspection)

@ approx 50000 miles I had Inspection 1 carried out.

Is this correct?
These were done in accordance to the service indicator with an annual oil change carried out.

What I have just noticed is when I start the car the service indicator is showing 15000 miles to the next Inpsection it was previously counting down to an Oil Service, surely if it has just had an inspection it should be counting down to another Oil Service.

Can the service Indicator be reset to show the correct due service type?

They managed to balls mine up to

serviced when I got the car but they did the wrong one or forgot to reset the indicator. Last one I had was inspection 1, indicator still thinks its due an inspection even though it should be just oil :headbang:

they say they can reset it twice after a service it stuck and kept forgetting to try it myself!

Yep - defo something wrong there, the order goes like this

Oil - 15k
Insp I - 30k
Oil - 45k
Insp II - 60k

Mileage is approximate as service internals depends on driving style to an extent

i suspect its more a case of forgetting to reset the computer, not actually forgetting to do the service. any case, find out more from them! :|

I'm not saying they have not done the service, just done the services in the wrong order which leaves me without a proper service history.

Humm - tricky one, its not as simple as going back to 1 dealer to sort out is it...
Well, you could just go back to whoerver did the last service and ask them to sort out the mess...?

I'd not worry too much, as long as it has oil every 10-20k it should be fine.

Mine had a long gap between services and BMW just did insp1 > insp2 due to the mileage (I think it was a lease car and owner was on high miles (motorway), so left it a few months extra over service due and just handed it back so it was about 4k over due)

Bit of a bugger of course as it's not a proper FSH 'by the book', but I've seen BMW let cars get to almost 3yrs on very low mileage examples before doing the service on mileage (5k a year x 3 yrs to trip the service)... that is worse imho.

Most insp1 stuff is just checks anyway, so if it's still going/working now, then whatever they would have checked wasn't a problem anyway ;) :D

Insp2 is the important one because of plugs.
