Has anyone used Chipsaway?

I have shopped around for quotes to repair the damage to my rear bumper. Spoke to a guy from Chipsaway today. He said he could SMART repair the damage.

What are your thoughts on this method of repair? Obviously much depends on the skill of the franchise owner but from what I have read, the quality of the repair deteriorates over time and is seen as a short term repair that suits if the car is going to be sold on.

Has anyone gone down this repair avenue?

Indeed, was pleased enough to leave feedback - Chips Away Reading

The did some of their dent removal, was superb! I haven't seen any deterioration and the finish is excellent. You said the most important fact, its a franchise and they're all different... I did a Google search on the Reading lot before I used them, also took the car down for a quote - allowed me to have a look at what else they had in.

Cheers PS. This guy was recommend to me by a bidyshop. I caught up to him today and he showed me a repair he had just done on a very nice 370z's bumper. Looked very good. Just a bit nervous due to the "following a polish I took off the laquer" and "paint used is of poor quality" type posts.

Just remeber.............
Smart repair is local area repair not to paintshop thickness and standards but what you do get is a good job for the money.
Good smart repairrs are hard to come by tbh so pick wisely.

That's a good point... the Chips Away lot did the dents (miracles with the door - paintless repair) the body shop did the paintwork.

This repair apparently requires pushing back and welding the plastic. Filling with alu mesh smoothing over then painting half way across the bumper following the centre crease down.

Maybe a bodyshop would be the preference after all.
