Yup, its what i use and i think the results are pretty good but i dont have much to compare. it was recommended to me by a detailer.

As far as waxes go. It works. For the money you can get far better that delivers a much warmer finish and give you better durability. For that colour car I would say check out dodo juice hard candy, rainforest rub or autobright ab paste wax. The autobright is a little dark horse and a gem one at that. Both weigh in at around £28.00 max. ive been looking at the vicoria waxes too which come in smaller pots and are quite good value by the seems of things.

Thanks for the replies! It looks like it is either the AG or the dodo juice then... A couple more questions...

Are different wax's better with certain colours of paintwork (I.e. Primary colours, metallic paintwork etc?)

How do you use the wax? Is it simply a case of wash and dry the car and then apply the wax and buff off?

You could just wash then wax but to get the best from the finish and durability you want to...

Wash and dry.
De-tar with dedicated tar remover.
Clay.
Cleanse or polish.
Wax.

Key with wax application is whisper thin layers and even coverage. Let cure then remove.

AG hd wax is a very good product that's readily available, others to mention Dodo hard candy is good as is Swissvax Onyx, its depends a lot on budget and time, if ease of use is important then Onyx is the one, my personal process is :

Wash and dry (using the two bucket method and a wash mitt, dry with good quality microfibre towels)

Clay treatment (make sure you get a mild clay as there are different grades and the wrong clay can marre your paintwork, dodo's basics of bling and born slippy lube is very good as is AG's, the clay is the safest way to remove road tar from your paintwork, but if you come across a large blob of tar then a quick squirt of tar remover on the affected area alone and a wipe with a clean microfibre will do the trick but don't rub!!

Treat the bodywork to a good pre wax cleanser, Swissvax cleaner fluid regular and Dodo's Lime Prime are very good, use with a terry applicator pad, in straight lines only, no circular motions!

Then apply your wax of choice, with the wax, light layers are the way to go, just so you can see a film of wax on the paintwork, leave to cure, generally 10-15 mins, wipe off with a soft microfibre and buff with a good quality cloth, Swissvax micro polish or Poorboys super thick and plush towels are very good.

+1. I used Purple Haze on my Sterling Grey. Immense levels of glossy shine achieved. You use so little as well so the initial outlay pays off in the long run.

Remember - the wax finish is only as good as the prep work.

I think some professional detailer from detailing world forum did a 6mth test on various quality wax products and all the dodo juices failed within 2 months whereas the AG HD and a few of the Poorboy Natty's wax lasted over 6 months. Nattys wax is a good wax. Otherwise by a sample pot of DoDo juice wax. Good for 3-4 waxes...Supernatural is a great product

I used dodo juice purple haze and wasn't impressed at all, glad I only bought a small tester tub. never again..
Used Pete's 53 and I think that's in a different league. and blackhole was good too.
Wasnt impressed with Zaino 5 either. was a pig to get off and left the car patchy, another one for the bin.

Some of the outcomes were quite farcical to tell you the truth. 915 would last 4 months max. Natty waxes 2 months max and BOS just over 1 month as used all and seen first hand. Any of the Dodo juice waxes will see 3 months durability if applied correctly to paintwork that has been prepared. Even a light hand polish with the likes of AG srp will make the world of difference to the finish prior to waxing. Waxes seldom rarely add much in difference to the overall finish. The better the prep, better the finished article then wax protects. Petes 53 will last 1-2 months maximum and yes, its a great wax but again there is better. The Zaino system works very well and usually causes issues by over application or not preparing the paint correctly pror to application. Zaino is acrylic therefore needs to be prepared with there AIO product or the likes of CG ez creme glaze with acrylic shine or the very least AG srp. Using certain glazes will conflict with the removal and overall finish.

mate i think one of the dodo juice guy already admitted on the thread that the products which were applied are only meant to last for 4 to 8 weeks which is as stated on the tin. and I have tried the purple haze on my car last year and i think they are just about right. I parked my car on street so like the test, is exposed to the elements. Too many variables yes, but its probably the most consistent and convincing real world test to date from an independent and judging by the length and responses on the thread which spanned from 2006, many would agree. The test is mostly to do with durability of protection than quality of finish as illustrated and hence, they are all applied on the same base, exposed to the same weather condition and in spite of the vehicle not being driven for that much, i don't think it matters as its the same for all the waxes applied. Albeit there is no independent 3rd party witness, but no one else has even come closed to doing a test of this scale.

Obviously not. Ive never done it as im far too busy work wise to even contemplate doing it. Dodo Juice stated 2 months is about average for the core eight waxes but have since then been reformulated. I still stand by the original version of rainforest rub which lasted just over the 3 month threshold on a CLS Mercedes I take care of every fortnight and that covered around a 1000 miles per month. Back to the original poster and what works well durability wise yet still making for ease of use and maintenance. Collinite 845 end of. Been using this lots just recently and have seen some very lengthy results. Washes really nice and looks very nice also.

Simple Scholl concepts spray sealant.

Lots in the prep for looks wise however, durability comes with mileage / usage of vehicle and are your in. Being near coastal areas will trial waxes to the utmost as will living in the country and all manner of filth on the roads getting flicked up onto your car. My views are my own and ones from using that many products and trialling them to a point over the period of nearly 17 years as this has and is my only sole trade.

If its any use I can get a formula polish especially spun down to remove the polymers, this polish I used for over 20 as concours polish.

I can get it in 5lt plastic containers and heres the best part it will clean rubber, glass (without smears) and paint without leaving the horrible white marks anywhere.

The better news the last time I ordered some it cost £15 per 5ltrs with polymers removed.

For those wondering why the polymers need removing, most polishes like autoglym actually eat in to your paint work, ever notice if you polish an area a lot the paint does come off a very little bit on to your cloth - it works similar to a very fine cutting polish, the polymers eat in to your paint work to make it last.

So thats great you get a shine that last and a clean car every time, the trouble with polymers also penertrate through the paint over time and life the layers of paint, if it gets to the metal it will actually prvent adhesion if trying to repaint the body.

Dont believe me ask any good body shop painter, they hate it, it take 5 times longer to prep the body before painting, with formula you still get a good shine no white marks so no need for tooth brushes afterwards and doesn't damage the paint!.

And if your wondering how long a 5lt container lasts, mines done 5 years so far and I think I have enough for another year yet.
Thats polishing the car every couple of months and I have three cars to do! Sadly not all Zeds, mainly 4x4's.

If your only doing your Zed then I would say it will last you 10 years or so dependant on how often you polish it.

Not bad for £15-00.

Interesting find Cysty. More interesting is that its actually still working right after 5 years as majority of bulk made prducts tend to go out of date far quicker than this. polymers are part and parcel of a majority of paint pre or protection products. It is the solvents in certain cheaper / lower grade products that dry the paint. Polymers can be used for gloss enhancing, increased durability and toughness. Most add polymer technology to add gloss primarily but if the majority of manufacturers are wrong im up for listening
