The Handbook indicates an option you CANNOT specify in the UK. :headbang:

Have a look in the footwell under your glovebox you will find a slot for a lighter socket on the upper-right of the footwell (left side if LH-drive).
Yes, I've got the slot all right....but nothing fitted within it, no electrics, empty, de nada, zilch
Could have done with that when I was fitting my Road-Angel...hiding the leads at bottom of windscreen, down side, under glovebox, along side threshold of car, behind seat, eventually to emerge under the armrest to plug into the socket there!

Interestingly, you can remove the tray within the armrest by slipping out the rubber mats which lie on the bottom, undoing the 4 TORX screws and just lifting out the tray - a nifty way to introduce any ancilliary wiring.

The other option I would have liked is the button/switch for opening the luggage compartment from inside the car....blanking plate over that one :headbang:

Hi there,
I am only new to the Z4 scene but when I was doing my research prior to ordering mine I recall reading about the smokers deletion package gets rid of the ashtray but includes an extra 12V socket in the footwell. I guess if you have an ashtray then I may be right.
Sorry if not

I have the button for opening the boot from inside the car. I cant beleive thats an option, I'd have thought that was pretty normal!
BMW still havent lost their touch about being tight with the extra's!
:D

Hi All
I have just got mine and I have the hole with no socket.
A question I have (before I ask the dealer and look stupid) is can you shut the windows and roof with the remote? I can open both from out side by pressing the open butoon twice and holding it on but I can't close either which seems a bit stupid as it is more usefull to close it when leaving the car.

Not checked for the socket yet but my roof opens and closes from the key remote. I also have the button to open the boot but in my new 325i its blanked off - BIZARRE!

What key do you use to you close it? Hopefully it wasn't an option.

Paul

Roof open/close was not an option and I was unaware I had the facility until someone mentioned it on the old forum (Z4um). To open I press the key and hold the unlock button down and the roof and windows open. To close, the same process.

Holding the 'close' button closes the windows on the coupe 8) , but cannot remember if this works on the roadster. I think that putting the key in the doorlock and holding that at 'past' the closed position will certainly close the windows. (err, not much use with the roof still open though.... ... didn't think that one through... :)
