I'm considering the swap![]()
I considered it a few months ago actually, when another forum member wanted to go the other way, but I couldn't bring myself to do it back then, despite the god awful hay fever I got whilst driving roof down at the national meetI probably should have tried to agree on a deal back then.
I love the roof being down when the weather is right but that's not happened enough this year and I have a commuting buddy who doesn't like the roof down. I've had to resort to a cover for the car where it's parked at home this summer, bird poop has been a big pain until recently. Now the birds seem to have gone, instead it's leaves from the trees overhead and generally it's too wet to ever get the chance to cover the roof. I don't fancy keeping it out there all winter and a coupe would be less of a worry. I've looked at a hardtop and it's still an option, but I'd have to sell it again next spring as I have no where to store it. I'd miss those sunny winter days with the roof down though![]()
The sensible option would be to sell the car and buy a crappy little fwd hatchback for the winter that I don't care about. That's not happening![]()
Oh how I miss my old flats underground parking spot....
Most people love 911s they are a great allrounder, I would say the older they are the more wallet wilting they could be, you really have got the coupe bugHerminator said:For some reason I always seem to get the itch to change after about a year, even if I love the car.
This looks lovely.... http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/...1-coupe-1995-best-sub-19k-993-for-sale/830572
But I'd want a garage even more for it  plus another 100 bhp
I am with you, I would love a lottery win, I would have a massive fleet then! It's always nice to hanker after something though!Herminator said:What I really want is both, and a bloomin big garage for the rest of the cars I want....
18 months ago I was tempted by an 80's 911. At some point I want a Porsche or three.

Thanks Franzino for putting those reviews up, they make an interesting readFranzino said:Z4M coupe: http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/bmw/z4/first-drives/bmw-z4-%2806-%29--3.2-m-2dr-coupeLeeZ4MR said:I was reading the autocar road test yesterday & they describe the z4 m coupe as being a lot different to drive than the z4m roadster & the coupe IMO looks miles better, it's an intriguing situation for you...I say go for the coupe![]()
Z4M roadster: http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/bmw/z4/first-drives/bmw-z4m-roadster
I have driven the coupe and the roadster and in my experience, the difference is not as big as they describe. This the only review of the coupe that I have read, that says the difference is that big. Maybe they had a lived out Z4M roadster to test with (the same red one that's in every test back in 2006) and a brand new Z4M coupe? If you wish; you can always change the suspension of the roadster, still you will never achieve the torsional rigidity of the coupe and so the more precise control that comes with it.Where the Roadster just understeers, the Coupe turns in savagely, drifts until its tyres will take no more and, thanks to double the torsional rigidity of the Roadster, has a level of poise and control its soft-top sister would not recognise.
