Has anyone gone Z4MR to Z4MC ?

Ah hem yer me too!! 28 Year old MC owner here...and I'm a young looking 28 year old! I went from Z4R 3.0i to my MC, haven't regretted it one bit. Just look at today's weather!! Coupe all the way, but agree not much point in going from a MR to an MC. Granted the roadsters are great when it's sunny but the lines of the Coup turn so many more heads

For me, there is nothing that compares to the lines of the e86. However, close behind it is the roadster with a hardtop. You've got a great car, you'll learn all about it's character over time, you'll have the best (almost) of both worlds, and you won't spend big money to start again from the begining with another car.

I'd be interested to know if anyone has sold the Z4M and bought something "better" and how they feel about their "upgrade"? the Z4M offers so much in terms of performance and relative luxury it's difficult, without spending an absolute fortune, to see what would come next.

997 GT3 for me, which will be a keeper for many years. I'll concentrate on upgrading the daily driver then.

Now that is sacriledge, 911 maybe? i agree its such a difficult car to replace the Z4M, i am pleased i am still in the early stages of ownership & i can continue to enjoy it for a while longer yet.

Also think any M owner going to an E89 will be pretty disappointed... Unless looking for something soft and not a handful. I agree that an Mr to Mc wouldn't be a great upgrade. Would be a Carrera S or 4s for me.

Well said. Such a shame the bean counters prevented an E89M.

I would have loved to have seen an E89M too, i think that would have seen quite a few people trading up!

interesting that everyone so far has suggested varying models of Porsche's as the Z4M natural's progression. I've never driven a Porsche so can't really comment but as they only really make sports/performance cars I'm guessing all models drive extremely well.

whilst it would have been great to see an E89M, for as long as it doesn't exist it makes the E85/E86M feel even more special for me.

Good post! i have never driven a porsche either but everyone i speak to who has had one love them & the higher end models are very rapid, i think by all accounts they do everything well.

The mrs has an ambition to own a nice 911 in the future, so you never know i might get to experience one first hand one day!

i've only just got my zed and intend to keep it for a good while yet. having said that it almost seems too special to drive at the moment. up until now i've been driving around in a clapped out nissan almera (maybe I shouldn't have publicised that!). there doesn't seem to be a special enough journey at the moment to warrant putting the miles on the m so I opt for the almera 9 times out of 10. has anyone else felt this when they first got their m? Need to change my mindset - you only live once and all that.

a 911 would be superb, better get saving my pennies again!

I can understand your mindset because i was like that with my TVR trying to keep the miles down, but although i use my 5 series as a daily if the sun comes out & its dry i will take the Zed for a blast because you are still having to tax mot & insure both cars, i think its important to try to use them.

To be honest they are very similar in some ways both have lively rearends & a similar ride & both have great engines.

The biggest difference is interiors the Cerb is awesome all leather & curves & the z4 is very basic old school, the only thing i really miss is the sound & outright power of the cerb, the zed is quick but alot slower than the cerb & the zed is quiet i do wish it was louder but dont want to ruin the overall feel of it, hope this helps

The ownership experience is unforgetable with the Cerb but hand on heart i would struggle to recommend one, mine never worked when i wanted it to & let me down when i needed it most, they are just to unpredictable.

You need a massive wallet to keep it tip top & things constantly need attention, its a massive shame with TVRs because the sense of occasion is special but i love the fact that i can just jump in my zed whenever i want & it will be there for me.
