HAS ANYONE FITTED M SEATS IN A Z4

Hi guys and gals, yes I am sure it is a silly question to all you "zed people" out there but i am still learning the ropes with my new car. I suffer from a bad back "age thing" and like side support so am thinking of trying to get a set of M seats and puting them in. My question's are will they fit a 2003 car. Mine does not have electric seats so am not sure how that will work but am guessing it is just 12volts to the main connector and the seat will take care of the rest. Or can you get M seats that are not electric, or can I use my old rail to put the M seats on to. Would I be right in saying that the M seats for the Z4 are unique to that car or are there any other BMW M seats that fit it.
Suppose the hardest part will be getting the seats.

Yes they will go in, and try to find some from the same year, and manual as well. Needle in a hay stack TBH, but good luck :lol:

Direct fit by the way, and takes about half an hour to do. And E46 saloon seats fit too, so Msports ones will go in, but not as supportive though.
 
Thanks Chris, What do you mean by M sports ones are not as supportive (do you mean the ones out of E46)
Was not sure about that but can you get manual ones from the Z4M (still learning these cars)

Yeah sorry, the msport seats in an E46 are no way as good as the ones you get in a Z4. But they do fit, just a bit shorter in height :D

Has anyone fitted the electric ones to a manual version as it would be the wiring bit might be tricky
 
delboy. I think every combination of standard to Msport from manual to electric and non the heated has been done.

Worst case to go from manual to electric is you need to add a bit of loom or post facelift into a prefacelift some passenger seat occupancy electrics

You can always swap msport bases onto yours by removing the squab and backs if needed.

Find and buy the seats then worry about the detail fitting later :thumbsup:

(oh - and I have fitted msport electric, heated in a 2003)
 
Happy days CJ that is what I wanted to hear as I would be happy to change the bases from one to the other
Makes it a lot easer. Yes the hard bit will be getting a good set but have all winter to get them sorted as I am a bit of a wimp and wont use it over the dirty months. Am lucky to have an EVO for the winter months

Dellboy,
some (most?) Z4s come pre-wired for electric seats. Mine wasn't, so I routed the wires from the fusebox and an appropriate grounding point to the seat connector. BMW WDS had all info necessary, including required wire thickness. The fuses were (despite missing wires) in the fusebox.

These are from the factory, but yes, they fit!
