Has anyone changed from E85 3.0 to sDrive 23i

Personally i wouldn't want to upgrade to a slower car but if that doesn't bother you then go for it, the E89 is superb.

and from what I have seen and read, they are completely different cars to drive (not in a bad way but different to what you are used to in your E85)

What, you mean the e89 won't rattle your teeth out on our crappy roads... where's the fun in that? ;)

Hello, I have a 2004 3.0 se fully loaded and am contemplating changing to a sDrive 23i Highline Edition. Has anyone done this or something similar (ie. from a supposed faster car etc.) what are your thoughts plus points and reservations if any. Any input greatly appreciated,Thanks as aleays for your help Steve.

stephendutton1963, I merged your threads as they are basically the same

I don't think you would find the performance lacking - the average 0-40 mph time is about 20 seconds so it's not like you will be missing out on anything. But I'd maybe have a look at some of the finance deals on a new 20i instead, I think you will notice the power difference less with the turbo engine.

That's a staggering offer. In the north, they're not offering half that in contribution or %age

Even I'm tempted! (well, perhaps if they offer similar on a 28i!)

Wow - I saw this on another thread, read it quickly and didn't see the dealer contribution (blind, I know 8) )

If I was still looking for a Z or thinking of trading mine, I'd be seriously considering this. Good recommendation

Maniac, I think those deals will be on the 28i before long. Not sure I'd swap a 35i though.

Well the -ves to a swap would be the loss of some options I have as I simply wouldnt pay for them new. Also I'd lose a chunk of cash in depreciation.

On the +ves, I'd have a spanking new car with 3 years warranty. Cheaper to insure and run, hopefully fewer issues as I'd get 18" wheels this time and hopefully less build issues as they've had a few years to tweak their build line.

I would miss the urge and the noise tho... that 35i exhaust is just the dogs.

I explored this a bit more today.. They'll offer the same deposit/contribution to the 28i car. The only slight change is 7.5%apr up from 4.9% on the 20i.

Having had some quotes, I could switch to the 28i on a lease/pcp deal without effort. However in the back of my mind, I still love the decadent nature of the 35i, and can't help but think that perhaps in 8 months time, when my warranty expires, I may be able to choose from a bunch of already depreciated 28i's out there where someone else has paid for all the extras that don't hold their value!

Well I specced it up with toys to take the 28i purchase price to nearly 42K lol.. but that comes to around £560 on a 3 year PCP, or approx £500 on a 4 year PCP. In the grand scheme its not amazing, but, looking around the UK its way better than almost anywhere else I've seen. 7.5% and a 7.5K contribution can't be matched anywhere else I've seen. Essentially, a 42K car, for just over 32K (£1500 deposit from the customer and £7500 from the dealer). I added in things like Navigation, Internet, Heated Seats, Comfort Pack, Connectivity Pack, which is the majority of the must have toys. Clearly if you just wanted a bog standard few toys car you could easily knock £100+ a month off.

For a real bargain the 20i is the way to go, but really I'd not consider it fast enough, you'll have to rag it, and I like POWER :)

*it has me on the configurator now... impulse interior with space grey, hmm, or white with impulse interior, something different... maybe ..
*oh and its the M Sport at that price too, not the SE, so that adds a few grand for the fancy bumpers and better seats etc

Well Ive gone from 2.5 to 3.0 and boy I do not regret it. I was tempted by the 2.3 but the performance was dropping and no difference in MPG.

Toys give me the basic 2.8 over the 2.0 fully loaded any day, toys do not hold the value and £100per month rather put it in the pot for next time. I change often so rather flip it in 2 years get a younger lower milage lady.

My next one will be the 2.8 will be made in June regestered in Sept and some unlucky punter will trade it in (or BMW fleet) under a year later ready for me to pick up for £23K year next sept.
Dealer cont £7.5
Punter cont £1.5K
Punter 1st year loss £10K
me £260 per month for 2 years up to year next sep + my Z4 = good deal.

If you are willing to drive, you can get £7863 in Chester or £8000 in Scotland.

Some dealers are offering M-Sport for free. This makes the deposit contribution lower but also lowers the Optional Final Payment.

Others are being greedy and keeping more of the profit for themselves.

Just been into my local dealer and they are also offering 5 years free servicing although their deposit requirment is slightly more..

These offers are very tempting indeed.

Anyone want to buy my lovely coupe?

never understood the coupe, why design a rag top to put a lid on it. ]

oh I did have a hard top on my last 3. Now I understand lol once I had the hard top on that was it from nov to april, so had a coupe.

Ive dropped my top a few times this year. so have a coupe and a rag now. shocked me opening the boot with the top down, only had it since nov so bit new compard to the old ones.

one strange thing when it rains its like loud bashing noise, im not used to the noise im used to camping lol
