I'm curious because I've been watch some top gear again recently and I noticed they talk about driving in certain parts of Europe that I hear a lot of you guys refer to. So I'm curious if any of you have seen Jeremy or anybody else from top gear? Whether it be during a recording or just saw them buying a coffee? Or maybe you went to a recording of the show. I'm sure there's one or two of you that have had a run in with the guys. :poke:

I went to a screening once. Soooooo boring. It was one with a 458 on it and with Jeff Goldblum. Would never do it again!!! You can see my lovely face in the opening few mins

I was working in the pits at the Silverstone Britcar 24 hour a few years ago when they entered the BMW 3-series on biofuel that they had apparently grown themselves (remember the combine harvesters?). The team I was with had a Lotus Exige that kept having 'run ins' on track with the Top Gear car and the three of them came down to our garage in the middle of the night (obviously while the race was still on) to ask our drivers what they were playing at. It was a right laugh - they were proper jokers and generally majorly taking the p**s out of everyone in the team!

Then in the middle of the night I think Hammond was nudged by a Mosler and reversed the BMW in to a barrier at speed and I went down to their garage to watch their team dragging the car in to the garage to try and repair it. There was a massive crowd down there though, so couldn't get anywhere near, even in the restricted area of the pits.

Earlier in the race I did get right next to "The Stig" who was just sat down in their garage with his helmet on, ignoring people. I guess they just pay an actor to do that though and the actual driver was probably upstairs in the hospitality rooms!

I've gone off Top Gear recently because it seems so 'scripted' nowadays, but the experience I had at Silverstone with them was perfectly genuine - when I saw the episode it painted an exact picture of what happened in the race. It showed that Clarkson was crying at the end from the emotion of the 24 hour race, and I fully believe that happened. They were just a bunch of normal (extremely well off) petrolheads having a right laugh together and being paid for it!

I 'met' Clarkson years ago when I was marshalling the Stow circuit at Silverstone.

precocious pr4t
