well summer has nearly ended down here in cornwall  which means its the first winter with my zed! been seeing lots of post about hard tops, where would i get one from and are they difficult to fit ?

They are easy to fit. I believe all Euro Z4's come with hard top prep.

IIRC:
1) fold down roof
2) remove 2 blanking caps from where the roof has been folded down
3) lift roof and place on top of car
4) rotate two pillar 'levers' into place
5) rotate another 'lever' in the top / centre of the windscreen
6) fit 3 blanking covers

In terms of getting one - try the Z4 Forum marketplace and eBay, Gumtree etc. Some are insanely overpriced though.

What do you think of Monaco Blue Hardtop on a Sterling Grey Z? Only £500 new but not sure if the combination would work although have found pic of Black hardtop on Sterling Grey and it looked OK.

There's is a second hand one for £740 which would save the hassle and cost so may just go for that, just got to persuade the missus now!

All z4's are ready for the hard top. If you look behind your seat to tge right on the rear wing there is a small rubber cap. This covers one of the securing points at the back for the hard top ( the same behind the passenger seat and when you lower the hood you will see a hole centre front of the windscreen frame this is the 3rd securing point. I don't think it matters really what you pay so long as current value as when you sell on you will probably get your money back or more!. Best of luck in the hunt.

I take it this one is in the Fatherland?

I'm after a Monaco Blue hardtop for the wife's car.

Afraid so, not sure if they post to UK but i have sent an email asking for you. Will let you know what they say.

Ive had mine wrapped in carbon fibre vinyl as it was a different colour and I didn't want the expense of painting it. Some hate it but I like it. Just an option.

I thought that was only true for European Z4's...?

Ummmm, we are in Europe. Barely, but we're still in it :? :P

I know - but there are some members from further afield. Just thought I'd add that in case they stumbled across this thread in the future.

Not 100% if it's true, even... I read it somewhere when I was looking for a hardtop.

When looking to buy mine main dealer confirmed all z4's where ready for the hard top. Easiest way to check is follow my suggestion to look for the securing points. Up till I was told I didn't even know about the rubber caps being there. If they are there it will fit if not it won't.

No Joy, unfortunately they will only post to Germany. If you could sort your own postage out you could get it sent to mine then you could have it picked up by courier... just a thought!
