Hardtop worth the extra money?

As a few of you will have noticed, I'm putting together my Zed 'shopping list' for April when I hope to splash the cash and get me a sports car :) I think I've got most of my wish list sorted, but just wondered what you guys thought about the new hardtop Z4 that came out in 2009 - is it worth saving a little more cash and getting the hardtop? Is there any other major differences worth noting? My budget is going to be circa £15,000 so I'm not even sure how realistic it is to get a hardtop for this price looking on autotrader!

Thoughts appreciated!

Thanks

Pete

I take it you mean the z4 with the folding hardtop - sDrive. If that's the case then its a matter of personal preference and choice - the younger in age vehicle you can afford then potentially the less wear and tear it will have had so a newer model may be the better option. I personally prefer the 'older' style Zed which retains for me a more 'British' sportscar look and feel. Looking on the BMW website the cheapest sDrive models start at £24995 so highly unlikely you get anything near to £15000 even a private sale.

I would personally go for a low mileage full loaded 2003-2005 model, around the 10 - 11k mark and save the rest of your cash

Odd thread - I think something is lost in the posting/reading here. Budget of £15k just does not stretch to £25k. Well not at my rate of saving anyhow

as others have said forget the bottom end of the new model range, get a well specced previous model. You'll pick up a great 3.0 with all the toys. Even ///M's are dropping to near that price range now.

imo the E89 is a totally different car to the E85.... with your budget you could always get an E85 and then get a hardtop for it (which can be had second hand for around £1k)

The only hard top I would want is the twin turbo model, but that is defenitly not in a comparable price range.

If I lived in England I would buy an //M. I like the older model more due to it's styling and chassis, and that //M engine would just be perfect
