Hardtop Group Buy, This Is A Superb Deal

Called the insurance they want £200 per year extra if I have a hard top. That's pretty much half of the cost of my insurance on top again.

So thank you for arranging it however I can't take one right now.

I'll have to wait until next year when I change to a different insurance company, see if there will be another group buy or get a used one.

Crikey, who are you with? just so we can all avoid them.

How a hardtop would bump up your insurance by £200 I have no idea,

If you really want one I wouldnt tell them or get it and swap insurance companies at the first moment you can, I doubt if BMW will carry on supplying these for much longer, as the car is now out of production

Could be tempted into a stand with cover, it's bound to get damaged rolling round my garage floor for the majority of the year!!!

Can you let know by 6.00 tonight if you succumb to your temptation?

I'm with direct line. I was going to with Swift however they wouldn't allow me to add my parents or brother to the policy (no idea why no they just said its policy for "that type of car"). Direct line would add the extra drivers. With my previous car I was with Adrian Flux, they were fine with modification, if the BHP was increased the cost would go up otherwise they were happy so long as they were informed about any changes. Swift looked good as they are fine with wheels up to £1000 and you don't even need to tell them.

I've been thinking about you guys are right, it would be a good idea to get one now. I don't like the idea of getting a used one. I'll keep and either pay up in winter when I need it or change insurance.

Will send you PM with order in a mo.

Just over an hour to the deadline for anyone still mulling it over!

That's bizarre asking for £200 more for the hardtop. I'd go back and check that out. I told mine they checked it out and once the realised it was a removable OEM item (not a irreversible after market modification) then there was no charge at all.

Thanks, I'll talk to them again once I get the top. I'll ask them to check it out as well. Hopefully they will realize the same thing.

You would of thought with the added security that a hard top will provide they should never ask for more money.

Seems like this was a pretty succesful group buy, a good deal for a new hardtop, it can be a right pain looking for one in the right colour second hand.

Now we need a similar one for the aero sideskirts  Something else people seem to always want but never get around to buying as they hope they come up second hand.

I'll see what I can do on my return to work 27th July. Does anybody else want to register an interest to give me some idea on numbers?

I DEFINITELY want aero sideskirts, so you can add me to the list for a group buy on these..... :D

could we do the same with this & make it a new sticky thread until the numbers reach requirements?

Good job on getting such a good deal guys!!! i love my hardtop!!

Aero skirts are interesting indeed. They do make them fairly cheap in Essex though (about £300 painted / fitted I think).

Edit - they seem to have gone up in price .... http://www.mstyle.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Side_Skirts_1123.html

Anyone wanting a hardtop in maldives blue? I may have one up for sale in the near future.

Watch this space  as they say...

Surely aero's wouldn't need that.. I mean.. who would even notice ? I'm not sure I can tell the difference even side by side..

Have just put a private plate on though & I'm sure that will need it too.
