Hardtop Defroster Element

I have just mounted a hardtop on my 2007 Z and it is my understanding (from a review of posts) that the rear glass defroster of the hardtop is energized through the mounting points behind the doors.

Question - how does the convertable top defroster know to not energize with the hardtop installed (to avoid the rear window elements from baking the rest of the soft top)?

Thanks

When the hardtop it fitted it deactivates several things such as the hood raise and lower and the rear screen defroster. Also depending on programming or aftermarket modules remote roof open and close is also limited to just remote window open/close

BTW - If you look at the locating posts on the hardtop you'll actually see the loom connectors on each post

That's great to hear. I thought it may be a software logic issue but (as an engineer) I didn't want to assume and then find that the softtop defroster should have been unplugged (even though there is no mention of that in any instructions).

Thanks again for the quick response...exactly the info I needed.
