Just started my car not opened roof for a few months

Opened boot to check for water all dry

Can’t lock boot any suggestions

Not checked error codes yet

Well code reader required..

Maybe micro switches..

Battery voltage / condition good?

Thanks battery was new last year and on battery maintainer

Car starts first time

Boot latch operates to open
Windows close and fully open on key fob

Weather pretty horrible so weighted the boot down under car cover :-(

Don't think so.

Never seen this message before. That indicates a total loss of communication between the car and the cabrio top module CTM.

Dead CTM's do I know only after long lasting water ingress.

Deep joy..

Maybe pull the fusebox & check nothing has blown there.

Also try clearing any codes the running the car for 30 minutes, switch off. See if the error pops back up.

Is the car outside? Assuming UK based, weather has been foul for a couple of days. You could disconnect it, bring inside & warm it up.

Failing that, more significant investigation needed.

On the bright side, CTM is common across all models of e89, you can pick up a used module for around £200 so not too devastating.

Yes car outside but covered will do some checks and see where go :-(

TBH, that is not correct. It's depending on the software version on the label as well as of newer flashed versions.

Ok so no fuses have blown and there is power to the ctm

No water ingress at all bone dry

I do have a roof comfort module fitted maybe this has gone

I would remove that and see what gives

Removed the unit and no error codes all back working

Unit must of gone

Yup seen that on this and other forums at least 3 times..

Would have been useful to mention it at the beginning…

Lesson learnt

Not a criticism more an observation..now so many cars have had mods / non standard parts etc so when folks complain about things broken it’s difficult to proffer advice without the causal factors…

I know it's not convenient, but have had knocking around a few years a cheap remote control that could be wired to operate roof either way once unlocked. Would mean carrying extra fob. Have been tempted to play as a project as a bit annoying to climb in car just to close roof when cleaning, etc.
Even have text operated module could do the same, but bit pointless. Would make good anti theft though.
