Tried to find some thread about this, there are some but no thread with a definite solution or detailed explanation.
I am putting this in discussion because I believe it will turn into a discussion, mods can move it to problems section if they think it suits my post better.
Anyone else had this issue and fixed it? Is there some weak point?
The problem is:
After some driving, you shut the car off, do some stuff, return and the brake pedal is hard meaning you can't engage the brakes to turn on the car without it rolling (clutch is pressed). Sometimes it happens even after 20-30mins.
How should it be:
You should be able to press the brake pedal a few times while the car is off before it goes completely hard and can't engage the brakes.
- During the drive, everything is completely fine (for now).
- Don't tell me this is normal because it is not, every other car we have in family is able to do this for a safe start. (LC Prado, Fiat Punto, X5, Mini). Also, my Z4 wasn't doing this before.
- Most of the time it is impossible to start the car without pulling the handbrake because you push the clutch and stand on the brakes but there is no vacuum so the car rolls.
- Brake fluid is 3 years old, but I don't think it has anything to do with that because who knows when it was changed before I had bought the car and this problem wasn't present.
Simple solution?
Maybe just replace the vacuum hose or check valve?
