Happy holidays!

Hello, all. It's been a while since I was last here. I've been driving around in an e46 m3 convertible.

I like the car. I will admit that.

But, I miss the z4!

This is just my usual sound-off. I usually had a blast with the zed.

Happy holidays, everyone. Drive safe and be well. Watch out for the snow, and make sure to fucking bundle up. It's cold out there and the top is meant to be dropped!

That's interesting to hear - I've been half considering changing to an E46 or E92 M3 next year.

Can you expand with a bit of comparison?

Hey Mystik. Welcome back.

Same to you. (You're still allowed to say Happy Christmas in the UK so, Happy Christmas to you!)

I haven't driven an M-series zed. I will preface this with that comment. But, what I can say is, there's definitely a considerable amount of torque readily accessible on the m3. I had an SMG transmission and there was always a lag of between the moment I put the pedal to the floor and when the engine kicks in. Sure, it's minuscule, even with the sport button on, but I notice that on the m3, the acceleration is instantaneous.

I definitely "feel" the power, and most of the time, if I push the car when merging on the highway, the engine is roaring and my passengers are glued with their heads to the seat.

Dropping the top on the zed is considerably faster than the m3. I think I timed the zed at something like no more than 10 or 15 seconds. I remember I would be at a red light and randomly decide to drop the top and I had no worries about the light turning green. It was great. The m3, on the other hand, takes a good 30 seconds. No dropping the top at lights now!

Appearance-wise, for some reason I feel like I got more looks and compliments when driving the zed as compared to the m3. Just me though. I don't know.

I have to do a valve adjustment every 12,000 miles on the m3. I didn't really "think" about it prior to getting the m3. I'm assuming the same is with the m series zed?

Everything else is great. On a side note, the only thing I miss from the 335i is the convenience access. If my car had that, I'd be a happy camper.

The sport button just makes the car more sensitive. Stiffer steering wheel, if anything. And punchy throttle.

Oil changes involve ~6 liters of castrol 10w-60 ($15 a bottle) and spark plugs (iridium) are 15 a piece.

I hope this helps. Maybe others can add some more.

Haha. Thanks!

I say happy holidays because I celebrate Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Christmas, and a buncha birthdays this month. It's quite fun, actually!
