Cannot wait. Considered the Boxster (2.7) and FType. Great cars but compromised by price and spec. As always Z4 is too compelling not to get back into one. Am I mad?

Certainly not mad! the 640d is a good looking car with a lovely interior but it handles like a boat and has a terrible ride so congrats on the incoming motor :driving:

The price difference between the two after dealer discount rules out the S. In 2.7 region then but felt I would miss the power. Sounds good though just not as epic as the is.

The 2.7 is still a bloody good car, some say it's better than the 3.4S....and sorry but I think they are better looking cars, as much I adored the look of my E89 when I had it. Mineral white, great colour choice

Probably, but then so are a few who are waiting for cars and some have just got theirs

When is your's due and what spec have you gone for?

Thing with boxsters is you can drop into one anytime as so plentiful but not that many 35is's about so have a zed while you can still get a new one for a couple more years then have a change anytime imo.

I see more boxsters in all honesty Stark, but yeah they're hardly cluttering the roads up are they.

Think boxsters will be made long after the e89 has finished, easier to find 2nd hand too.

Same reasons about why I had to rule out the Boxster. Speccing up to similar levels as 35is and no dealer discounts meant ruling them out. However, drove a 35is and there was more sense of occassion similar to the FType.

I'm kinda thinking I went to sensible with 28i though. When I ordered it, I thought - 28i compared to 35is, running cost 3.5-4k cheaper over 5 years, as well as 5-6k ish cheaper on list price. So 9-10k difference. And all this for 1 sec gain in 0-60.

But now I'm thinking - it's not just 0-60, other set up difference might mean non quantifiable improvement in enjoyment and it's only 2k difference/year!

I suppose if I can save 10k by buying 28i over the 5 years, that might pay the difference between z4 and cayman in 2020 :rofl:

Head over heart V heart over head man maths can be used to make any figures work the way you want , ultimately if it was down to costs we'd all be driving Polo Bluemotion's enjoy what you have mate , i'm sure there would be many out there on the roads who would happily trade car's

28i is a very good choice imo RX, I only went 35is for the DCT and maybe bit easier re-sale if I ever have to sell otherwise it'd have been a 28. Plenty of grunt in the 28, enjoy!

Have to agree with the Porsche camp have just bought a Cayman 2.7 pdk after 2yrs with Z took one out the balance and grip round the corners was so good just had to have one but no discount's did'ent feel any slower than my Z and handled a lot better but no roof down action :thumbsdown:
