Hang in there my friend

After being with us for 7 years with no problem my good friend Dexy is not too good at the moment - you know when something's wrong - didn't turn up on Friday morning first thing as usual - eventually came in - tail down - meowing loudly - telling me he's not well :(

Trip to the vet - diagnosis urinary blockage - bladder dangerously enlarged - currently hospitalised with a catheter - told that whilst he may get through this there is a possibility it may recur - if this happens prognosis is not good :(

Hang in there my friend

Hope it works out. When pets are ill it is like one of the family is suffering.

Urgh...horrible when they’re not well, Dexy looks a lovely cat.

Hope he recovers and has a lot of full life yet Gov...

Best of luck gov, one of our girls has had bladder issues since being spayed so we have to keep a close eye on her - hopefully you'll be able to control Dexy's problem with the correct diet

Sorry to hear

I lost one of my cats just over a year ago. Still hurts. I remember waking up after a night shift hearing scratching at the door. No big deal, I thought, they always do that.

I left it an hour or so before I'd had enough and got up. I opened the door to see my beloved cat dragging herself on the floor. Back legs had gone. I quickly phoned my mum to get her to take the cat to the vet, but I fear the damage was already done.

The next 2 days they tried to get the blood flow back to her back legs, but no luck. She passed away during the night and we got the call in the morning

Vets are scum and charged us about £1500. Disgusting, but we had no choice but to pay, as anyone would in that situation.

We had her cremated and keep her ashes in a lovely cat shaped urn. Give her a kiss every morning and night. 7 and a half years of companionship, gone in an instant

We brought this soppy chuff back from the brink when he was a tiny kitten, farm cat runt of the litter, was’nt getting much food, but he’s as fine now and soft as a bag of s**t....I’d be absolutely gutted if anything happens to him, we love him to bits, so I empathise 100%....

Horrible story Ben, truly sorry to hear that, I know how we’d be in that situation.

It’s a really crap time. I’ve been in the position of looking after daisy my dog for the last couple of months as while I was away at a wedding she had a stroke. She’s 13

She survived and it was horrible being away at a time like that. She’s improved but it’s left her weak and with vestibular disease.

I feel for anyone that loves their pets and they’re going through tough times.

Get well soon Dexy!

Our cat, Alfie, was knocked over by a car outside our house several years ago. Unfortunately I was away on business and my wife had to deal with it all, but it still upsets me to this day that I did not get to say goodbye.

Now we have these two idiots and love them to bits!

I wish Dexy well, I have Gracie, a Golden Retriever, and fingers crossed very healthy, they become so much part of the family, I lost two cats to cars, and swore and I wouldn't get another one unless we moved somewhere safer, took me ages to get over them

Update - my boy is back home with a ton of meds :D :D he's wandering about familiarising himself with his home !

Have to say Vets were fantastic - gave us an update every day - charged only £380 that included a week's worth of special food as well as all meds - bearing in mind he was hospitalised on a iv for 4 nights plus the operation very reasonable.

Thanks to everyone for best wishes

Tony
