Handy site! OR NOT!

Just clicked a link that someone posted re BMW warranty quotes, and was surprised to see, that putting in your reg, reveals your FULL VIN...

Try it; https://www.bmw-warranty.co.uk/BMW/Login/Index

Handy if you are looking at prospective purchases as allows you to check spec etc on the VIN decoder, but I for one am a little perturbed by how easy it is to get what should be sensitive information... MAkes ringing a BMW that bit easier IMHO..

You can see it walking down the road with any modern car though so not really an issue.

I realise that, but for those who trawl the net looking for vehicle identities and the like, makes it a LOT easier.

Fantastic thanks for sharing.

ANyone knows a good VIN decoder site - there was a good official BMW page but it no longer works for me.

Thanks Tom!

:) Doesn't work for my Alpina - tells me I have a 320D. Think I better have a look under the bonnet....

(it only used the last 7 as a match, not the full VIN. Seems to ignore the other characters)

We've been meaning to tell you for a while that yours is an Alpina only in your head - it really is a 320D!
