Handling issues

I am less than impressed with m sport suspension it is a pain in the arsenal and it is by street miles the worst suspension I have ever experienced in any car ever. I hope I have been clear on that.
Personally I blame the yanks who designed it and who have no conception of corners, potholes and speed bumps.
It was designed by a Dane, Anders Warming; uses mainly E46 3series components and was assembled in Greer, South Carolina
smiles - well i knew it wasnt made it burton thats for sure.. :P stupid council paid a mint to put humps everywhere and then ran out of money to fix the roads :headbang:

my limited research shows he was head of interior design, i cant really blame him for the suspension... maybe the cupholders.. 8)

so if anybody wants to swap his standard front springs for my m springs.....
That's what I'm worried about...swapping my sport suspension which is too hard for a bilstein kit that might be just as hard
I went from my knackered M Sport suspension to Bilstein B4 and Eibachs. I swerved the B12 Kit as Bilstein confirmed its about 25% uprated (harder) than M Sport in an email. I opted for Eibachs over M sport springs not for the lowering but the fact they are comfier over the smaller bumps, again Eibach confirmed this stating their spring rate is softer initially raising to about the same as M sport.

The difference over the knackered stuff was night and day, although its still firm, its a sports car after all, it was definitely comfier and no longer launching me out of my seat/destabilizing the car over every bump. That was 18 months back, about 9 months ago I changed the Eibachs for Suplex SE Spec springs just to see how much comfier they were etc. Although they are comfier and road humps are easier they're not night and day like when I changed out the knackered original M Sport stuff. The handling has definitely suffered though and I personal dont feel it handles like a sports car should on these springs, its rolls/leans too much and steering responses/handling etc are no where near as quick/precise as they were on Eibachs. Its just too compromised for the bit of extra comfort they deliver, not to mention the aesthetics of the car are miles better lower.

Funny these topic came up now as I've just dug out my Eibachs and plan on refitting them later this week.

Yes it's annoying we have to put right/mess about with something that should have been right from the start.
I regard it as a major cockup by BMW, other BMW's don't have this problem, I can only speak of what I have owned like the 3 and 5 series are perfect.

He styled the exterior in 1998-99. The designs were shelved and finalised for production in 2002. This is from his own website https://warming-design.com
