Handling issues

My 2003 E85 zed drives like poo at the moment. I'm running non-runflat Michelin pilot sports and it has (from new) the m-sport suspension. Even with these tyres it wanders all over the place and crashes over any rough bumpy roads. I've tried 16" wheels recently to see if there was an improvement which there was but not dramatically. I think my only option is to work through the various bushes etc and maybe fit one of those bilstein kits (B12 or something) or even a softer set up from eurocarparts or similar. Anyone had similar issues that have improved with new everything or am I wasting my time and money on an old car

Worn shocks; bushes or broken springs. Not done the Zed yet but did my lads MR2 last year and it changed in from a wallowing saggy bag of sh*t into a sharp precise go kart. Changed them all but what a difference!

I am less than impressed with m sport suspension it is a pain in the arsenal and it is by street miles the worst suspension I have ever experienced in any car ever. I hope I have been clear on that.
Personally I blame the yanks who designed it and who have no conception of corners, potholes and speed bumps.

That's what I want...go kart handling :D
Did you go for a stock set up or an uprated one?

Thanks  any experience of the bilstein kit?

So ye didn't get on then. As our Cilla would have said.

My car started life on 17" wheels, I fitted 18's and non run flats. This made a big difference to the handling, I also adjusted the ring on the steering motor and this improved it further. I run my tyre pressures quite high, 33 front 36 rear too.

Nope I tried to buy bilstien but i tired of nobody having any in stock so I gave up and bought suplex springs and Sachs shocks.

nope, and when i do sell my zed it will be because of the awful suspension and inability to cope with crap roads

but here is my problem, its cheaper to change my car than move.. but what else has a glorious engine and makes a noise like an angry bear when provolked for the money ?? and does 30 to the gallon while doing it - anyone ?

so if anybody wants to swap his standard front springs for my m springs.....
That's what I'm worried about...swapping my sport suspension which is too hard for a bilstein kit that might be just as hard

It was an MR2 not the Zed - not got round to the Zed yet I'm going to combine the suspension refresh with dropping the rear axle to clean and powder coat diff carrier etc and change the rear brake lines whicle I can get access.

Stock shocks on the Mr2 but I think the big changer was the powerflex bushes - all of them even on the sway bars. Feels really planted now.

It was designed by a Dane, Anders Warming; uses mainly E46 3series components and was assembled in Greer, South Carolina

Hey Leesfarm.......another forum member from the Telford area! Do you work on Stafford park and we waved at each other a few weeks back?.....Monaco Blue, roof down.

I am in the process of fitting Bilstein B4's, Eibachs and Whiteline Arb's. If you want to have a ride in mine when I have got it done, be my guest. The back is done, just waiting on top strut mounts from autodoc to complete the front.

Got to agree with Roadwarrior that M sport suspension is the work of the devil, when I got my zed a couple of years ago the first zed I test drove was m sport it almost put me off buying a zed. I got rid of the se springs on mine as it was just too high and too much body roll and have been on Eibachs for about a year and find them more comfortable than se springs.

What tyre pressures are you using?

Has the suspension been checked?

Bushes?

Alignment?

Has any work been done on the suspension previously? The car is 16 years old so would think the shockers are shot.

I have the M Sport Suspension and it's night and day compared to the 2003 E85 SE that I had previously.

That would be great Davs
No dont work in Stafford park and dont recall waving to another zed recently. I'm in madeley but rarely use the car as it's so terrible to drive.
Yes deffo like to see the difference

32 ish I think
No only visual
Just bought new bushes off another member along with lollipops etc.
Had a hunter alignment a couple of years back
Think everything is tired through mileage (86k) and lack of use

The 2.5 SE I had was shockingly bad. That was mostly down to the runflats and the bushes etc at the time were in good condition as the car was only 2 years old and 10k on the clock.

Which bushes are you putting on it?
